Extended Bio Profile:
Ms. Baumann was born in Geneva, Switzerland, to Hungarian political refugee parents who fled their country during the 1956 Revolution. She became a Montessori teacher and taught internationally for a few years. Her work became her passion. Her success with parents and children was undeniable; however, she felt that too many of her students were limited by the structures of the educational system that she worked in. By the age of 25, she was determined to create a program that would inspire children and teens to explore life on their planet and learn to appreciate its beauty in reverence. In order to respect each child’s individuality, interests, abilities, pace, desires, and visions, she created the hands-on International Dialogue through the Arts on Global Issues Program. <br>

She did not know how much of an effect her teaching had on students until a parent from Northern California whose son had been in her class informed her 10 years later, that 18 students out of the 22 students in her class had actually specialized in various artistic professions. After becoming a mother of two children, Sataya and Willow, whom she had the privilege to raise in a home-schooled environment nestled in the mountains of Northern California, she realized that the International Dialogue through the Arts on Global Issues program was her personal healing journey. Ms. Baumann suffered a deep emotional scare at the age of 7. After her graduation, she had hurried home to proudly exhibit the entire content of her art portfolio on her room's walls. After carefully gluing each work with white glue on the walls, she invited her mother to view her creations. Her mother was not only surprised but requested that she take her works down and create a rotating exhibit. This of course was impossible. She remembers that period in her life as a summer that was painfully spent in her room destroying her own artworks with a knife. She was expected to clear the wall entirely with this tool! This realization occured at a woman's discussion group. Since then, Ms. Baumann has found many more instances in her life which, at the time seemed to be a tragedy, turned out to be a healing lesson and a miracle.
