Expanded Biography:
Dr. Atkins has worked in Computer Science Research Centre at University of Salford in 1982 as a systems programmer and as a microcomputer coordinator later. He aided the university in acquiring contracts from computer manufacturing companies and in negotiating deals with Novell, Microsoft and WordPerfect in acquiring sites for schools and branches of the university. He visited The University of Adelaide in Australia in 1984 to assist in the development of a COBOL compiler for prime computer systems. He established a computer center for a university in Oman in 1985 and an organization known as Salford University Network Services in 1991. He moved Salford University Network Services out of University of Salford and incorporated it as a new division of Salford Software in 1998. He was enthusiastic in developing the company and endeavored accordingly. He enabled Novell to become the leading provider of network services in the academic community of United Kingdom. He split Salford University Network Services into two divisions in 2002 and became the managing director of one of the divisions called Salford Computing and Training Services. He later moved Salford Computing and Training Services to MindWorks after University of Salford closed down Salford Computing and Training Services in 2004. He established United Kingdom's academic licensing arrangements with Novell and managed services and training programs for institutes in United Kingdom.
