Dr. Atkin's greatest career achievements were serving as the president of The National Association of Veterans Affairs Optometrists for two terms and being the first woman to obtain the position.
Highlight of career?:
Dr. Atkin considers her election to Vice President and then President for two terms of the National Association of VA Optometrists, and being the first woman to hold these positions, to be her greatest professional accomplishments.

Dr. Atkin attributes her success to her hard work, self-motivation, dedication and commitment to her patients.
How Did They Get Involved In Profession:
As she became disillusioned with her profession in physical therapy a friend attending optometry school encouraged her to pursue a career in the field.

Dr. Atkin's was featured 15 times in journals and magazines. She is involved in non-profit organizations concerning animal and environmental related causes. She currently holds faculty appointments to four schools and colleges of optometry and has presented numerous professional posters, publications and lectures. She has participated on the editorial board of optometric journals, and has served as a journal referee and as a guest editor of a journal issue. She serves as a consultant to a number of corporate healthcare advisory panels. Dr. Atkin is currently in the process of building a home-based business involving E-commerce, media placement, affiliate marketing and information marketing. She is conducting her various business ventures under the name Optopod Enterprises, Inc.
