She attributes her success to her religious faith, her open-mindedness, her foresight and the support she received from her parents.
Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
She became involved in her profession while hospitalized for a ruptured appendix; she realized that there was a need for better nursing facilities.
Extended Bio Profile:
Ms. Stanton has over 50 years of multifaceted health care experience ranging from acute care nursing to community and public health administration, home care administration and national administrative leadership in faith-based health ministries and community nursing. Additionally, she worked for Cesar Chavez for four years, during which time she opened the first migrant outpatient clinic for farm workers in Texas in conjunction with the Texas Department of Health. In 1995, she launched the Center for Health Ministry at St. Joseph Health System in Atlanta, Ga., where she was responsible for bringing untold numbers of parish nurses and health ministers into the faith health movement. Ms. Stanton feels that she is successful because she has never put herself before God, and is always looking to mentor and build up her community.
