He became involved in his profession because of his family background in the military; he is a third-generation Army serviceman with a legacy dating back to the Civil War and the Battle of Mobile Bay.

Mr. Jenkins served in Vietnam between 1967 and 1968, and in Korea between 1980 and 1982. He is also a Cold War veteran, and has served in Germany, Korea and Panama.
